One of Jesus’ final prayers in before he left was that all of God’s people would be one in mind, spirit, and vision. This month we are joining with 1,820 churches around the world representing over a million people for One Prayer 2009. All of the churches participating in One Prayer will be doing a message series this month titled: “God Is…” In this series, I’ll be teaching the first week (Beach Sunday) and then in the following two weeks we will hear from the pastor of one of the other participating churches via video. As we share the teaching ministry across deonominational, cultural, and geographical lines we will be coming together as One Church being just one way that we can be an answer to Jesus’ prayer for unity. Come an be a part of history and the answer to Jesus’ prayer for unity for a great series that you won’t want to miss.

God’s Wisdom for My House:

Between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day we will be looking at God’s wisdom for our family. Each week we will look at the timeless truth found in the book of Proverbs that relates to our family. In this series we will look at parenting, marriage, money, handling conflict, and respecting authority. Proverbs 24:3 says that it takes wisdom to have a good family. In this series we will be looking to God’s wisdom for insight into how we can strengthen our families. I have never thought it was wise to try and divorce faith from facts and reason and I don’t think God ever intended for us to.  Faith is what I believe to be true based on what I know to be true. There is so much evidence that supports the essential elements of the Christian faith, that it’s harder to deny the facts than it is to place your faith in Jesus’ resurrection, that he is Lord, and that the Bible is God’s Word. Why is it whenever someone sees you listening to your iPod they ask you, “Who are you listening to?” In that moment I always feel like I am being judged. I guess that’s because who we listen makes a statement about who we are.  In life, we find that what and who you listen to will influence what you do. When making decisions that impact the direction of your life, who are you listening to? I know in my experiences I tune out certain people and I tune in to what other people are saying.  In this two week series we will be looking how some people in the Bible answered this important question, “Who are you listening to?”
