Let’s Get It Started
Well the day is finally here that we can begin to work on the new facility on Ware Neck Rd. Our driving focus in starting Essential Church was to “create a church that non-church people love to attend.” I’ve always said that if someone was looking for a typical or traditional church service, they wouldn’t come to a school. Now that we will be moving into a more typical church setting, I think it’s important that we don’t try to reinvent ourselves as a church. But rather continue to “do what we’re doing, and do it better.” Since this is our guiding principle, we are not looking to add any programs or ministries just because we have a building. We need to take things one step at a time. Once we get used to having a facility 24/7 we can then reassess our ministry plan and consider what else we can do with a facility to continue to make Jesus famous.
I believe that a building shouldn’t dictate who we are as a church and how we do ministry. Rather, who we are as a church should dictate the design of the building. With this in mind, here is a broad overview of the projects we looking to do between now and January 10th:
- Opening up the foyer
- Combining three rooms off the main hallway for a Children’s Worship Center.
- Combining three rooms off the sanctuary for a Youth Center & Game Room.
- General fix-up and painting
- Maximize the capacity and functionality of the sanctuary
Susan Mollura will be coordinating the projects. If you are interested in helping out contact her via email at sbsue@verizon.net. There are projects that people of all skill levels can participate and contribute. For instance, the first thing on the list is to go through and inventory what is in the building. We will need to sort out what to keep, what give a way, and what to throw away.
The projects that need to be done are broken down into phases. Most of the projects in each phase can be going on simultaneously. Also there is a work schedule to let you know when we will be working at the facility. It’s important that we know when you are planning on coming up to work and what you want project you want to do.
I am excited to begin this new chapter in the life of our young church. God is amazing, you are essential, let’s get to work.
